Version history

Version history lets you put your website back the way it was. You'll find it in the editor under Version history.

You don't have to remember to use it: SnabbSajt saves a point automatically at the moments where things usually go wrong.

What gets saved

• Website as created - the very first one, taken when your website is built or imported. It is there from the start, so you are covered on day one before you have saved or published anything.
• Automatic - taken as you work.
• Before AI change - taken before the AI rewrites anything.
• Before import - taken before an import replaces content.
• Before restore - taken before you restore, so undoing a restore is possible too.
• Saved - one you made yourself with Save a restore point. You can name it ("before the summer campaign"), which makes it much easier to find later.
• Published - every version you published.

Turn on Show only saved and published when the automatic points get in the way.

Going back

Pick a version and Preview it first - you see it page by page before anything changes. Then Restore.

Two things are worth knowing:

• Restoring changes your draft, not the live website. Nothing your customers see changes until you publish. SnabbSajt offers to do that for you right after.
• A copy of the current version is saved first, so a restore can itself be undone. In the rare case that copy couldn't be saved, you're told before you confirm.

What a restore covers

Pages, text and appearance. It does not touch your booking services, your enquiries or your orders - those are live business records, not page content, so going back in time would do more harm than good.

If some images in an old version were deleted in the meantime, they can't come back, and you're told how many.

If you review your website with someone and there are comments on it, a comment follows its section back as long as that section's content is unchanged. When the text it was written about is no longer there, the comment is kept but marked as pointing at a place that no longer exists - we would rather tell you than move it onto wording it was never about.

How many versions you keep

Free keeps 10 restore points, Starter 30, Pro 90, and Business keeps them all. Published versions are separate and aren't affected by that number.

On a very large website new restore points can pause - you'll see a note saying so. Your published versions still work.

The difference from a backup

Version history is for stepping back a few edits. A backup under Settings → Backup & move is a file you download and keep yourself, for moving house or sleeping better. Different jobs.
