What should a business website contain?

Updated 29 June 2026

A business website doesn't need to be big — it needs to be clear. The visitor should quickly understand what you offer, feel that you're trustworthy and know exactly how to get in touch. This guide covers the parts that genuinely matter, and why, so your site does its job instead of just looking nice.

A clear homepage

The very first thing a visitor sees should answer three questions: what do you offer, who is it for and what should I do next? Write a short heading that describes your business in plain words, ideally with your town, and add a clear button for the next step — call, book or request a quote. Everything else comes further down.

Services or products

Say concretely what you do. A list of your services, what they involve and ideally rough prices helps the visitor understand whether you fit their needs. You don't need to write an essay about each service — a sentence or two is enough. Clarity builds trust; vagueness creates doubt.

If you sell goods rather than services the same principle applies: show what you have, what it costs and how to buy. With Snabbsajt you can also take payment right on the page if you want, so the visitor can buy without leaving it.

Contact details and a way in

This is the most commonly forgotten part, and the most important. Phone number, email, address and opening hours should be easy to find — ideally without the visitor having to search. On mobile the phone number should be tappable so the call starts straight away. A simple contact form means those who'd rather write than call can reach you too.

Trust: about us, reviews and photos

People buy from people they trust. A short "about us" text saying who you are and why you do what you do creates a personal connection. Real photos of you, your team or your work say more than a stock image. And if you have happy customers, ask for a couple of short reviews and show them. That's often what tips a hesitant visitor into getting in touch.

Information that shows on Google

A good website also helps Google understand your business. Your name, your town and what you offer should appear in plain text on the page, because that's how search engines connect you with what people search for. With Snabbsajt the site is built search-engine-friendly from the start, with the right headings and business details, so you show up for the right people with no extra work.

Summary

  • A business website should answer what you do, who it's for and how to reach you.
  • Contact details and opening hours are the most important — and most forgotten — part.
  • Real photos and short customer reviews build more trust than polished phrases.
  • Your name, town and services in plain text help you show up on Google.
